On behalf of Sir Graham Bright, Cambridgeshire Police & Crime Commissioner

Date: June 9, 2014

Tell us what you think of 101, says Commissioner

Cambridgeshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner is asking the public to share their experiences of calling the police non-emergency number.

Sir Graham Bright is asking members of the public who have called 101 to complete a short online questionnaire. The results of the survey will enable the Commissioner to better understand where the Constabulary is performing well and where improvements need to be made.

Sir Graham said: “The importance of ease of contact with the police is something the public flag up to me regularly. It’s vital that we get that first contact right. Thousands of people call 101 every month and while I know that improvements have been made to the service, particularly on the initial pick up, I am aware that work remains to be done.

“Call data will only tell us so much. I rely on people telling me when they have had problems so I can work with the Chief Constable to see that any necessary improvements are made. I want to hear directly from people who have experienced calling 101 so I can gather a wider range of views. I am equally interested to know where it is working well.”

The questionnaire can be found at http://cambridgeshire-pcc.gov.uk/survey/101-call- handling/

The deadline for responses is June 23, 2014.

You may know of the book "Five Parishes – Their People and Places" published in 2004 and its sequel, the Five Parishes Journal published in 2006. Both cover the history of this village and our neighbouring villages.

The original book is out of print (though CD's can be bought and the contents are all available on-line). Copies of the 2006 Journal are still available and published this month is a second Journal. It has 76 pages of fascinating local history articles on Castor, Ailsworth, Marholm, Sutton, Upton, Stibbington and Water Newton.

Copies of the new journal cost £7 and the earlier journal costs £3.50. Both are available from Jo Morris at the Cedar Centre beside St Kyneburgha's Church, Castor .
